☀️🖤💥🌛HAPPY SOLAR ECLIPSE DAY!! 🌟🖤Hello beautiful souls! In today’s class, we celebrated the sun & moon energies in anticipation of their dance together this afternoon! In those 3 minutes of darkness, we are reminded of the importance of slowing down to see the magic. To tap into our yin, feminine energy that is connected to the moon. We celebrated our creativity, compassion, confidence, stillness, clarity, intuition, and removed all the obstacles in our path to begin again. We honored the past, accepted what has been, and then let it all go, sent it all back into the earth. We made space for our renewed purpose, new beginnings, and our rebirth. 💥🌒🌛

 


☀️🌒We opened in hero’s pose, with a sun+moon mudra, where the heels of our hands connected, the right hand (our sun side) pointed to the heavens, the left hand (moon side) fingers pointed to the earth. As we inhaled, the left hand circled around to the top to meet the right hand, the moon now in front of the sun!! 🌙🌒☀️ We lifted our Anjali mudra to the sky in celebration, and then moved into our Nadi Shodhana pranayama, our Alternate Nostril Breathwork. Inhales & Exhales traveling through the sun & moon sides (R and L) of the nose, lungs & body.

 

 

☀️🖤🌙We softened the body, released jaw clenching, forehead tension, chest tightening. We moved into sidebends, a mini backbend, into puppy pose. We came to our seat for our self-healing reiki practice, focusing on our mental health, connected to the body, becoming present, releasing the past frustrations & future to do lists. We set our intention, followed with seated twists, seated cat cows dripping the chin, curling the back, melting into  another backbend, and forward fold into child’s pose.

 

 

☀️🌒💥We moved in yummy ways, with a yummy warm up flow of Cat-Cow, into calf stretches, crossovers, 1-legged child’s poses, and then floated onto the knees for our Gate pose with crescent moon palms together+ side bends! 🌙Super delish!! We opened our heart & lungs, lengthened, twisted, extended, flowed linking breath + movement, opened our hips, releasing tension & tightness to release negative energy & nourish the body.

 


☀️🖤🌙 We honored the sun’s warmth & life-giving energy through a Sun Salutation A, came into Tadasana with our sun+ moon mudra.  Our moon salutation honored the slower, peaceful yin energy of creativity & intuition! We flowed through crescent side bends, 5pt star, goddess with tree + crescent side bends through the R and L feet, as if we were moonlight dancing through the trees! Warrior 2, Sky archer, Triangle to the back of our mats, flowing into a twisted lunge, pyramid, half moon for stability & grounding energy! We melted into skandasanas, wide leg forward fold with eagle arm sways to remove all our debris & obstacles, to clear the path for our renewal! We flowed into our triangle from the ground up, our symbol for change & courage, into dragon at the top of our mat, peeling open, melting the hips, binding the back foot, to finish in a low lunge with crescent palms together for a backbend.  Super yummy fluid moon salutation with fun additions, and did the same for the left side! We encircled the healing space on our mats!🌛🌒💥

 

 

☀️🖤🌙Somatic experiencing gave us tools to regulate our nervous system, to serve as a reset button! Crown taps in a slow rhythm to the temples, jaw, collarbone, and sternum. We exhaled with an audible bee 🐝 humming breath, squeezed the shoulders & arms, and a spring clean swiping of the whole body, we swept away anything harmful & toxic still attached to the body! We stimulated the vagus nerve, the super highway of information located at the base of the brain and runs throughout the entire body, touching every organ system! We sent messages to the brain that the body is not under threat, it does not have to exist in a continuous active state (fight mode). We have the ability to help our nervous system shift fluidly between states when each are needed, the sympathetic & parasympathetic nervous systems! Both are useful and 100% needed, but we do not want to become stuck in one state for too long. These practices are so useful off the mat as we encounter stress or triggers in our daily lives!

 

 

☀️🌒💥Our final flow began in Tadasana, and moved into lots of balance work beginning with Pilar, flowing into Dancing Shiva, Dancer, and Crescent Warrior + palms together for a backbend. We cactused the arms for the inhale, then planted the hands as we swept the foot through center into a 3-limb dog, knee to nose curls, to send the foot through for Fallen Star! ⭐️ We flowed into our plank, knees grounded, a little backbend, and top of the feet grounded, knees lifting to arch the back. We moved through a vinyasa flow and then honored the left side! After the left side, we melted to our bellies for pelvic rocks, low cobra, broken wing, and sphinx to relax the low back!

 

 

☀️🖤🌙Our cool down involved a few yin poses to honor our lunar energy connection, child’s pose melting onto a bolster, Deer + a forward fold over the bolster, seated child’s pose, reverse table, into our boat to lower to our backs. We lengthened, hugged the knees in, and lengthened into our crescent moon to the right and left. We then flowed into a Tpose, cowface and spinal twists brought us to our final poses such as Happy Baby, plow, wheel, or legs up the wall! We settled into our savasana! Together, we completed a full body cleanse! Each student even received a little gift: CRYSTALS!! Moonstones, celestite, and selenite, all to connect to the lunar energies: calm, clarity, creativity, confidence, joy, aura cleansing, and peace.

 

 

 

💥🌒🌛Yoga helps us shed what we no longer need, so we may see our most purest selves! Connect to divinity! 🙏🏻To slow down means to heal! That is why savasana is the peak pose, the most important pose, the goal. To find peace. In the stillness! We surrender. We discover ourselves again without the layers, the armor, the walls. They all come down, revealing our divine self.🙏🏻

 

☀️🌒💥That’s what I LOVE about yoga, it renews the soul! What we do on the mat, transforms our life off the mat! It is beautiful!!
