Brahmacharya: In Moderation, We Find the Secrets of Happiness.

🍁 Hey friends! Today’s class was so fun! I kinda geeked out about it! When we are first introduced to yoga, we learn about the asana, the poses, but asana is actually the 3rd of 8 limbs of yoga! There’s so much MORE! We skip right over the first 2 limbs! Since September, I’ve pressed the rewind button, & started at the beginning, with the 1st limb of yoga: the Yamas, tools for transformation in our lives!

 

🍂 This week we dove into the 4th Yama, Brahmacharya! Moderation. Where we give our energy, refrain from extremes, find the balance. Too much of anything will become toxic in our lives. Excess of things we love turn to obsession, not enough of what we need lead to apathy. Our nervous system will become dysregulated, causing harm to our mind + body. So we find the balance! I loved that quote from Julia Child for today, especially as Thanksgiving approaches! (since I’m really there for the pies!😂) Moderation in our foods, our exercise, our work, our behavior, reactions, our parenting, our lives. Small samplings, for good health, love this wisdom from Julia! 🦃

 

🍁We moved in yummy ways, flowed as our knees pulled toward our ajna. Eagle arms & kaleshwar mudra connected to our ajna chakra, opening our wisdom, intuition, & clarity….all which help us find moderation in daily life. We shed the false layers we’ve accumulated: judgement, self-doubt, worry, stress, comparison, unworthiness. Yoga helps us shed what we no longer need, so we may see our most honest selves! We healed with reiki, & stimulated our vagus nerve through somatic experiencing to tell our body + brain we were in a safe place, regulating our nervous system.

 

🍂That’s what I LOVE about yoga, it nourishes the body, heals the mind, & renews the soul! What we do on the mat, transforms our life off the mat! It is beautiful!!
