☀️✨“If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.” ~Mother Teresa.
🍂On Monday, September 11 arrived, and with it came heartache for the loss we all suffered that day, and ironically, joy arrived for my first regularly scheduled yoga class, a big dichotomy! So it was definitely memorable!! Healing is always at the core of my classes, and on Monday, we needed a lot of it. So, we dove into ancient yoga philosophy, and brought healing through pranayama, movement, somatic release, reiki and stillness.
🍁 It’s funny, when we are first introduced to yoga, we learn about the asana, the poses & shapes our bodies create, but the asana is actually the 3rd limb of 8 limbs of yoga! There’s so much MORE! We skip right over the first 2 very important limbs! So I pressed the rewind button, and we started at the beginning, with the 1st limb of yoga: the Yamas, tools for transformation in our lives!
🍂We wove Ahimsa, the practice of non-harming, into our hour, non-harm in our thoughts, words, and actions toward ourselves & toward others. We remembered that we are all connected, to our family, friends, neighbors, strangers in the next city, state, country, even across the world, we are all connected! We are all more alike that not! We mended wounds, we found peace, we exuded compassion through heart openers, and we began to heal. It was beautiful!!
🍁That’s what I LOVE about yoga, it nourishes the body, heals the mind, and renews the soul! What we do on the mat, transforms our life off the mat!
🍂I’ll try my best to share each week about how my words from my yoga classes can transform our daily lives!🫶🏻 Next Monday’s class: Satya: how we can bring truth, our most honest self into being!☀️
